Group Details

This group is for teen artists to enjoy peer company while working on their own individual projects and meets in the studio in Alto on Tuesdays from 6-7:30pm weekly. Each artist will work on drawings or paintings at their own pace alongside their peers to grow their artistic skills. Erin will observe artists at work, offering individualized guidance, suggestions, and feedback. Erin may also work alongside students, as this can be helpful for those who learn from demonstrations or wish to learn more about her process. There will be time during each group to share, ask questions, and participate in critique. Beginners will start by developing drawing skills using graphite, charcoal, and/or pastels. Erin focuses on drawing what you see, emphasizing line, shape, value, and proportion. Students who are ready for and interested in painting will use acrylics or watercolor. The class fee includes all materials and storage for works-in-progress. (A list for supplies is available upon request for students who wish to work at home and/or keep their own supplies.) WHAT TO BRING: Please come to the first class with reference photos printed from your own pictures, from a magazine, or otherwise with a subject that you are interested in drawing-- perhaps a human portrait, cartoon character, animal, food, floral, or landscape. Bring a water bottle and snack if you'd like, and dress in clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.

Cancellation Policy

Refunds will be given for cancellations up to 72 hours before the first group begins. No refunds will be given if you are late or miss class, however one makeup date will be available per six-week session. Make up date will be arranged on an individual basis. Should Erin have to cancel a class due to her own illness, additional make ups will be arranged. Parents and guardians are welcome to come in to view the studio and meet Erin during the first group meeting, however there is limited space in the studio for non-participants. Siblings and other family members will not be able to stay during group time if not enrolled. Mobile devices must not be disruptive during group. Please keep out of the studio if you are feeling unwell, have a fever, or have been vomiting within the past 24 hours. The studio will open 10 minutes before the start of class. Please do not drop students off prior to that time. Youth must be picked up promptly at the end of group. Parents or guardians should plan to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the end of group and are welcome to come in to view student progress.
